Twitter seems to be a love it or hate it type platform. When I first got on Twitter years ago I loved the concept, short 140 character messages. Doesn’t take a whole lot of attention span.

After spending some time on Twitter I quickly got sick of it. It seemed everybody was Tweeting out affiliate links and product links and telling people to checkout their stuff, but very little value was being shared.

Over the years I’ve gone through phases of loving and hating Twitter. Recently I heard someone make a comment that nobody cares what other people are Tweeting, people only care about their own Tweets. This is oh so true.

I notice even personally, sometimes I could care less about what’s on my feed but one thing I am always sure to check is whether my items have been favorited, retweeted, and whether anyone has commented on or interacted with my Tweets. This is true of the majority of Twitter users.

So how can we use this knowledge to effectively market to, sell to, or even just engage with others on Twitter?

Rather than just Tweeting out stuff which maybe nobody will read, we can look for Tweets from others within our niche and comment on those Tweets. With this method we can be fairly certain at the very least the person who’s Tweet we commented will read the Tweet and get the message.
